Week 9 - MIS

In our lecture we continued to look at some of the information systems, i.e. computing applications and also the trends within certain infrastructures.  For example "CC Characteristics" including applications such as rapid elasticity where resources are scaled up and down identically. Furthermore, we looked at the management issues with the CC Characteristics; i.e. scalability; are you able to provide future needs with this process.

In our seminar we patched up over our assignment work and submitted all the relevant data & information in regards to the coursework.

Week 8 - MIS

In our lecture we looked at data and how it's organised in different, selected databases and also the relationships between them. We also explored the vast amount of computing and their "advanced "cloud applications" and their ability to manage resources.

Furthermore, within our seminar we had a practical whereby we explored a database in excel and it's applications. Following this, we got into our groups for the Bizzie Bodies task and finished off our presenation and began to record/present our business "ISolutions" and our solutions to Bizzie Bodies problems.

Week 7 - MIS

In today's lecture we looked at "enhancing business intelligence" whereby we looked at how businesses deal with specific types of data and how it can be analysed. For example "big data" is generally unstructured due to the sheer volume of how much information/data there is. As a result, it is generally not trusted.

Also, in our seminar class we carried out an exercise in excel named "family budget". We worked outgoings and income leftover and processed the cells in a specific way to obtain the "scenario summary". This is important and practical as businesses can use this to perhaps budget or to see how much their outgoings/income leftover would be after changing some values.

Week 4 MIS

Apologies for the late publishing of this blog. Unfortunately I was unlucky enough to catch the flu & have been recovering from illness for at least 2 weeks whereby it has affected my attendance and completion of some work (which I hope you understand). However, I looked over the slides from the previous lecture and learned a significant amount about "digital communication", I.E. the growth of the on-line marketplace for buyers & sellers and the mass marketing that involves social media such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.. This also gave me an insight into how competitive we now are in this day and age, How everyone is beginning to market themselves on-line whereby it creates a huge amount of competition. Which emphasises just how important it is for you to have a USP; to differentiate and offer what others are not already as the markets begin to saturate extremely quickly.

Week 6 - MIS

Today we discussed organizational effectiveness; whereby the concept is essentially how effective the organisation performs when completing/achieving what they originally intended to do. Furthermore, within our seminars we began to discuss our group work in reference to the "Bizzie Bodies" organisation. We came together and discussed our findings that we did in our own free time and are now planning to construct the presentation on Power-point. 

Week 5 - M&IS

Today we looked at an array of theories presented by Thor Ingvarsson that emphasized the practice of managers & leadership. Whereby, different theories and approaches would align to different sets of people as each individual is different. For example, some people may enjoy work as see it as a fundamental thing to do where as others may not. In our seminar we looked further into Bizzie Bodies & established within our groups what our next course of action was.
